Jim Stime. - 50 gallon reef tank
Common Name - Cocos Pygmy Angelfish
Scientific name - Centropyge joculator
Appearance - Front half is bright yellow and rear
portion is dark metallic blue. Blue ring around eye and yellow edge to dorsal
and anal fins.
Location - Collected only from Cocos and
Christmas Islands northwest of Australia
Comments - Only a few are collected for the
hobby. Typically sell for $800 to $1,000.
As with all centropyge it will feed on flake foods but
will do much better on a variety of small bite-size frozen foods, such as mysis
shrimp. These fish enjoy having access to hiding places and are collected from
deeper coral or rubble zones. Tanks with live or
decorative rock are great. Position the rock openly so as to create many
passages.
